“$7 million assisted living center coming to Ashton”

The new Ashton Plantation Senior Living Center, an Assisted Living community designed to house elderly parish residents, will be located in front of the Ashton Plantation Subdivision.
St. Charles Parish Hospital CEO Fred Martinez says plans to develop the center stretch all the way back to 2001.

“Former Parish President Albert Laque, along with the previous council, approved a Scope Plan for St. Charles Parish,” he said. “Part of the plan for the health care sector of the parish included building an assisted-living facility to house elderly residents that aren’t quite ready for a nursing home, but still are near retirement and need assistance with the care.”

Schonberg & Associates flagship Louisiana and Mississippi properties both announced deficiency-free surveys by the Louisiana Department of Social Services and the Mississippi Department of Health, respectively. Both communities have demonstrated long, consistent track records of deficiency-free state surveys since they have been in operation.

The Suites at Sugar Mill Point in Houma, Louisiana was surveyed and notified October 25, 2007 as to their deficiency-free survey. The Suites at Sugar Mill Point was one of a select number of communities in the state to boast the zero-deficiency rating.

“As part of our commitment to always doing what is in the best interest of our residents, we strive for perfection in every aspect of maintaining our community,” said Shannon Huber, Executive Director of The Suites at Sugar Mill Point.  Alden Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Hattiesburg, Mississippi was surveyed on May 29, 2007 and notified June 6, 2007 that they had received a zero-deficiency survey from the state.

"We continuously excel in our state surveys,” said Alden Pointe Executive Director Kathy McPhail. “It is something we are very proud of and something we feel our residents and their families have come to expect." David Schonberg, owner of Schonberg & Associates, the New Orleans-based healthcare leader who owns and operates both communities, echoed the sentiments of the two directors. “This excellent performance just goes to show that our communities boast the best leaders in the business, who personally ensure that the highest standards of care are upheld. We are very proud of our entire Schonberg & Associates family for this achievement.”

August 31, 2007—New Orleans, Louisiana

Schonberg & Associates, the New Orleans-based healthcare leader specializing in state-of-the-art senior care communities, announced the acquisition of Pendleton Manor, an Assisted Living and Memory Care community located in Greenville, South Carolina.

Designed to accommodate residents with physical limitations and/or memory impairment conditions such as Alzheimer’s and dementia, Pendleton Manor features 50 beautifully-appointed apartments, a stellar staff of seasoned industry leaders, and the potential for growth and improvement in the burgeoning Greenville community.

“Pendleton Manor was an instant match for the Schonberg concept – which provides a secure, home-like environment for residents at various levels of the aging process,” owner David Schonberg said. “Combining the strong raw materials of a great facility and a great staff with the new leadership and vision our company brings to the table will make for the finest Assisted Living and Memory Care community in the Greenville area.”

Schonberg & Associates, which owns and operates four additional Assisted Living communities in Mississippi, Louisiana and South Carolina, began in New Orleans in 2000. After extensive research, owner David Schonberg developed and continues to perfect his concept for providing first-rate senior communities through a “neighborhood” concept for varying levels of care.

May 24, 2006—New Orleans, Louisiana

In an effort to grow the Schonberg Assisted Living and Memory Care concept beyond its roots in Louisiana and Mississippi, the company announced the acquisition of two Assisted Living communities in South Carolina—Magnolias of Anderson and Magnolias of Summerville.

The expansion marks the first phase in the company’s plan to expand throughout the southeast. Schonberg & Associates developed The Suites at Sugar Mill Point in Houma, Louisiana and Alden Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care in Hattiesburg, Mississippi from the ground up, and is now diversifying by applying its successful management concept to already-existing communities.

Both communities boast 50 impressive apartments and provide personalized care programs for residents at various levels of the aging process—including home-cooked meals, tailored activities programs, transportation and religious services.

Owner David Schonberg hopes the company’s demonstrated expertise at its previous communities can help the already-impressive Magnolias properties to become the most outstanding senior care communities in their respective areas.

“Bringing the Schonberg philosophy to these established communities in Anderson and Summerville is an exciting new step for us,” Schonberg said. “Applying our proven healthcare management and top-notch care to the already-strong Magnolias properties will allow them to flourish and to stand out as the best of the best.”
Schonberg began implementing his hands-on approach in the Magnolias communities with regular on-site assessments. Plans are in place for updates and physical improvements to the facility, additions to the staff and streamlining of internal accounting and human resources processes.
